I became involved in dementia friendly churches when I was a minister in Bradford. I was working with a group for people living with dementia and their carers, which met at the church where I was. Gradually people from this group began to come to the church and I had to rethink what that meant for services, and in particular for the preaching. I was fortunate to have contact with Rev Gaynor Hammond who has written about dementia friendly churches, and together we looked at possibilities of developing new ways of being inclusive church.
